Pah-Leh Ah-Leh – A Beer with Roots

Some beers come from a recipe. This one comes from a journey, a friendship, and a place we call home.

After a long season of farm work back in 2002, we got a one-time bonus trip to Kaua’i to visit our boss and friend Perry—a local legend who split his time between the Lost Coast and Kaua’i, surfing both like they were one and the same. The locals in Kaua'i didn’t know us, but they welcomed us instantly—because they loved Perry. That’s the kind of connection that makes a place feel like home.

And every time we ordered a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale in Kaua'i we heard it called Pah-Leh-Ah-Leh. That small detail, that local spin, stuck with us.

Fast forward to today—Josh’s family has been in Southern Humboldt for generations, think the ’54 and ’64 floods. I landed here in 2001, made my way to Shelter Cove in 2004, and somehow that’s over 20 years. We’ve put down roots, built a life, and shared a lot of beers along the way.

Now, we’ve brewed our own pale ale—the first original Gyppo recipe, created by Josh. This isn’t just a beer; it’s a cheers to Perry, to Humboldt’s cannabis history, to the friendships we’ve built, and to the wild, beautiful place we get to call home.

Come grab a pint—because this one is straight from the heart.
